The Mountain Ridge Winter Guard Program
The Mountain Ridge Winter Guard program has a long-standing tradition of excellence. Winter Guard was started at Mountain Ridge in 1998.
The group competed in the Scholastic Regional A Division until 2006 when they were bumped to Scholastic A during the season and proceeded to win their first State Championship. Since 2006, the Ridge Winter Guard program has finished in one of the top three spots every year. The Winter Guard has won a total of four state championship titles, including two in the Scholastic A Division and two in the Scholastic Open Division.
In 2016, the program grew beyond the 30 allowed participants for a single group, so a JV winter guard was added. The JV Guard serves as a place for new members to join in December, learn the activity, and compete in the low-pressure environment of the Regional A Division. The guard program at Mountain Ridge is proud to be a no-cut program and invites any interested students in grades 7-12 to reach out to our director!
2023 Update: Both JV and Varsity competed at the Desert Vista show where our Varsity team won Scholastic A Class, finishing in 1st place and our JV team finished in 2nd place in Regional A Class with a score of 66.77!
At the WGAZ Guard Focus show 2022, the JV guard came in 5th place in Scholastic Regional A. Varsity in 3rd place in Scholastic A.
