Band camp - $185 per Student
Fare share - $350 per Student
If this is a hardship to anyone, please speak to Mr. Hattendorf. It is our intention to never leave anyone out of this great activity due to financial reasons.
Can I do band and play sports?
YES! We are usually able to work schedules around each other and we have had many band students participate in various sport activities/teams – even at the varsity level.
What bands are there?
We currently have 4 band classes during the day, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds, Symphonic Band and Percussion class. We do marching band in the fall and Concert band in the winter and Spring months.
Can I audition to make a higher band?
Yes, audition dates and times will be announced by your middle school director. You may then set up a time to come over and audition. AUDITIONS ARE NOT REQUIRED, your middle school director may make recommendations.
Do all band students march?
Yes. All band students are in the marching band that rehearses Tuesday and Thursday Evenings as well as some Saturdays (We’ll send you a schedule!) This is the only High School program that you are a guaranteed varsity member as a freshman.
Is there a band camp?
Yes. Band camp is always at the beginning of August. This is where we teach the music and drill (how to march) and assign marching positions.
How long is the marching season?
The marching season is normally over the second Saturday of November.
What is Fair Share?
In lieu of constant fund raising, the Mountain Ridge Band parents chose, years ago, to pay a "fair share" fee in order to help fund band activities. These funds are used to pay staff fees, that are not covered by the school district, writing/design fees, equipment costs, travel costs for transporting instruments and equipment to games and festivals, entry fees that are not covered by the school district, and awards.
How do I get involved?
Attend the parent meetings on the 2nd Wednesday of every month or fill out the volunteer sign up sheet located in the downloads section of this web page. You can also just show up and introduce yourself and we will gladly put you to work.
How do I contact you because I have more questions?
